It was a packed house and everybody had their "fangs up" for Cobra Starship's sold out date of "The Really, Really Ridiculously Good Looking Tour."
The band, which made a name for itself with the anthem "Bring It" from the 2006 film "Snakes on a Plane," just released its second album and is still fighting to prove it wasn't just a B-list film gimmick.
Kicking off with "The City is at War" the first track from their newest record, "Viva La Cobra!," front man Gabe Saporta (formerly of Midtown) danced around like a charmed snake and encouraged the crowd to do the same.
Hot single, "Send My Love to the Dancefloor, I'll See You in Hell (Hey Mr. DJ)," was next. The music video has been lighting up MTV's airwaves and got the band elected as "Artist of the Week" during MTV's New Year's Eve special.
"Keep it Simple" came next, followed by "Prostitution is the World's Oldest Profession (And I, Dear Madame, Am a Professional.)"
Cobra Starship is signed to Decaydance, the label formed by Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz, and it looked like most of the crowd had drifted over from Fall Out Boy's passionate following. The median age looked to be about fourteen, and many were wearing the T-shirts of other Decaydance bands like Gym Class Heroes and Panic At The Disco. The Cab, another talented up-and-coming Decaydance band, opened.
The young crowd got a surprise when Miley Cyrus, of "Hannah Montana" fame, showed up. She was there with her family supporting opening band Metro Station, who her step-brother, Trace, plays guitar and does vocals for.
Cobra blazed through tracks like "It's Warmer in the Basement," "Kiss My Sass" and "Smile for the Paparazzi" before ending their normal set with "Bring It." The band had brought an energetic set that everybody seemed to enjoy.
