A USC student was preparing to undergo surgery Tuesday at an Orange County hospital after being struck by a car while crossing Hoover Street at 28th Street on her bicycle Monday evening.

The injuries to the student, a junior and member of a sorority on The Row, are not expected to be life threatening.

The Cerritos College Board of Trustees has appointed Bill Farmer as acting President/Superintendent.

The decision became effective on July 31 and was a move by board members that will ultimately finalize into the installment of an interim president.

The former President/ Superintendent Dr. Noelia Vela left to take the position of Chancellor at San Bernardino Community College District.

Last semester Vela was given a vote on "no confidence" by the Cerritos College faculty senate.

Lack of space and quick service are big concerns for many students eyeing The Lot Marketplace, the 20,000-square-foot, semi-permanent dining facility that opens Aug. 20.

The Lot will serve students' dining needs until the Ronald Tutor Campus Center is completed in 2010.

Soul Calibur 4 is the latest entry in Namco Bandai's long running Soul series of fighting games. Ever since it first started with Soul Edge in 1996, the series has separated itself from similar fighting games by using a weapon-based combat system instead of the standard unequipped style used by other games such as the Mortal Kombat and Tekken series.
